Abstract
This Demographic Statistics Bulletin is the third in the series. The Bulletin focuses on selected demographic indicators namely population, fertility, mortality, reproductive health issues, health records of births, deaths and marriages from 2013-2016 which are of public interest in Nigeria. As such, this Bulletin is not exhaustive. The data was collected from both State and Federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies (SFMDAs) across the country. In this edition, users will find statistical information showing how available data measure the reality of Nigeria’s demographic situation. It also highlights the need for proper record keeping at all Federal and States Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDA) nationwide, the need for strengthening the capacity of all record-keepers and creating statistical synergy between Federal and States Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDA) and National Bureau of Statistics. While a number of States responded positively to NBS’ data requests, others are being encouraged to make updated submissions for the periods under review. The Bureau remains committed to promoting the general use of statistical data and information on demographic statistics in particular for development planning and decision-making
