Abstract

This study aims to assess the students' ability to read the Al-Quran at the Aisyiyah Midwifery Academy in Pontianak based on their regional origin and educational background. The research was conducted in the form of a descriptive correlative survey research. The population used as research subjects were students of AKBID Aisyiyah Pontianak class 2015 to 2017 who took the Al Quran reading and writing course. The results of data analysis showed that students who came from the district. Melawi, on average, has the ability to read the Koran which is better than students from other districts / cities in West Kalimantan. While students who come from the District. Sekadau tended to have the ability to read the Koran which was still low when he entered AKBID Aisyiyah Pontianak. The ability to read the Al-Quran new students from AKBID Aisyiyah Pontianak who came from Madrasah Aliyah had better scores (Good category) than new students from SMA and SMK (enough category).
