Constitutional right under the view of caciques of Mãe Maria indigenous Land (Pará), Gavião indigenous people

Abstract

This article is a result of field research, in which we use in processing of data content analysis resources proposed by Bardin (2016) to understand the thought of caciques of Mãe Maria indigenous land, Gavião Indigenous People, about the rights of the indigenous peoples carved in the Brazilian Constitution of 1988 (BC/1998), what the caciques understand by the word right and how they perceive the rights that are attributed to him in the Constitutional Charter. The data were constituted from a semi-structured interview with caciques from 12 villages of Mãe Maria Indigenous Land, based on two generators questions about what the caciques understand by right and what they think about the rights of the indigenous peoples assured in the Charter of the Republic. The results show that the caciques sighted with suspicion the indigenous rights provided for in the Brazilian Federal Constitution of 1988, because they perceive a large chasm between what is written in the Constitution and the rights that it really have access, associating the word right with the fight for improvements for your people.
