Abstract

The importance of repeatable colors when designers select color palettes for new collections is stressed to avoid choosing new colors where fabrics cannot be matched and possible delivery delays. New services are offered by various companies to assist in the creative process. Visual color choices are available and production standards created at the earliest stage. Ciba Textile Services was launched in 2002 with a variety of color services to help retailers and brand houses reduce development times. These include color matching and standard development online fashion shade management, effects development, fabric testing and training. The working process with designers is described with a wide variety of integrated solutions throughout the whole value chain. Archroma was started by Clariant in 1999 producing an Engineered Color Standard applicable on multiple substrates and an Engineered Color Palette library. Color Solutions International offers color specification and communication and the Color Specifier is described.
