Abstract

This paper introduces the special issue of Psychoanalysis, Culture & Society on academic freedom. It explains the background to the special issue and identifies the main themes in the collection of papers. The focus is on how psychoanalysis can contribute to our understanding of contemporary pressures on, and debates about, academic freedom.
