Abstract

A frequent requirement in research studies is the development of a conceptual framework. Within the literature, one can find several different and alternate conceptual frameworks, all relevant to their specific study. However, guidelines on how the researcher could approach the development of a conceptual framework are less discussed. This paper will explore the idea, and process of developing a conceptual framework within a specific context. Outlying the challenges, and considerations in developing a conceptual framework for an Initial Teacher Education programme for post-primary teaching. The process developed may be of value to others who are commencing their conceptual framework journey.
