Abstract
We describe a modeling method potentially useful in estimating changes of solutionizing time due to changes in processing history and composition. The method is applicable for multiple solutes and multiple phases. It involves integrating coupled evolutionary equations for the volume fraction and number density of each soluble phase. We use the method to demonstrate the increase of solutionizing time due to hold at elevated temperature or due to slow cool from a homogenizing treatment, for generalized situations in processing 6xxx, 7xxx and 2xxx alloys.
