Abstract

This tax planning case introduces students to the considerations business owners face when selecting a business entity type. The setting includes three student athletes that each plan to take advantage of their opportunity to profit from their name, image, and likeness. Each student athlete’s unique circumstances will influence the most advantageous entity type for their situation. The case learning objectives are (1) apply technical knowledge (2) develop analytical thinking skills and (3) create a mock client communication of a recommendation.
