Abstract
This research explores the experiences of a select group of Peruvian faculties in the context of increased academic production, a phenomenon driven by the rise of academic capitalism. Through qualitative analysis of interviews with the country's most productive researchers, this study identifies changes in their perceptions of academic work, revealing five main patterns: the redefinition of the teaching role, increased workload, strategic engagement with productivity, various modes of academic production, and concerns about the quality of academic outputs. Key findings include a pronounced distinction between teaching and research roles, influenced by institutional policies aiming to enhance effectiveness in both areas. The study shows how faculty navigate these changes, adopting strategies such as implementing production modes and reducing teaching hours to manage productivity amidst rising demands. These transformations indicate a complex adaptation to academic capitalism, underscoring the need for policies that balance increased output with the preservation of academic integrity.
