Abstract

Two economically significant diseases have been observed on experimental plantings of winged beans in Central Java. One is caused by a yellow mosaic type virus (YMV), previously unreported, and the second is false rust, a fungus disease incited by Synchytrium psophocarpi (Rac.) Gaumann. Sources of resistance to both diseases that may serve as parental material for the development of resistant cultivars have been found among 69 accessions surveyed.
