Abstract

Introduction. The importance of preparing future doctors for written and oral dialogue in a foreign language is determined by the current geopolitical situation. The rhetorical approach, as a methodological basis for the professional pragmalinguistic competence building, is considered as the effectiveness of utterance both in written and oral forms, and the strategies and tactics of speech become a means of achieving the effectiveness of utterance in a specific professional situation. Assessment of the level of professional pragmalinguistic competence building makes it possible not only to determine the ability and readiness for effective professional dialogue, but also to establish favorable contacts in interpersonal professional communication. The aim of the study is to build professional pragmalinguistic competence for a future doctor in the context of modernization of higher education. Materials and methods. 50 students of Ryazan State Medical University named after Academician I.P. Pavlov (Russian Federation) took part in a pilot survey to check the level of professional pragmalinguistic competence building. During first stage survey, questionnaire and conversation were conducted. The selection of students was carried out using the continuous sampling method. Subsequently, the results of the representative sample were analyzed using methods of mathematical statistics (i.e. using a variation series). During the second stage, the level students' professional pragmalinguistic competence building (PPRLC) was assessed using skills at high, medium and low levels. Results. The results of the first stage (survey, questionnaire and conversation) showed that most students (28 people) had difficulties in choosing speech strategies and tactics. The authors developed and tested contextual tasks with prescribed speech strategies and tactics, which served as a means of professional pragmalinguistic competence building. Conclusion. The study showed that it is necessary to use contextual tasks taking into account the expected social situation «doctor-patient» in order to build professional pragmalinguistic competence. The presented rhetorical approach allows achieving maximum effectiveness of the statement in the process of teaching a foreign language in a non-linguistic university.
