Abstract
Energy policy in the United States assumes that there will be a marked expansion of the nuclear power programme, with as many as 1,000 nuclear power stations in operation by the year 2000. But the nuclear industry is now experiencing some of the toughest political and economic challenges it has ever faced. In the first of three articles on U.S. nuclear policy, Colin Norman reports from Washington. © 1975 Nature Publishing Group.
