Abstract

Two cases of drug induced hepatic injury by taking some herb medicine (Kinshigan) on the free market for treatment of their internal haemorrhoids were reported. These cases were diagnosed by the challenge tests using Kinshigan. Case 1 was a 51 year-old woman. On medical examination she was pointed out with elevated S-GOT and S-GPT and was admitted. After she set about her work, she took the second admission due to general fatigue and elevated S-GOT and S-GPT. After that she came to us again presenting the same symptoms and signs. At that time we have discovered she was taking Kinshigan for a limited time. This case showed that stimulation index of 202% on LST was positive over 180% but LMT was negative.Case 2 was a 46 year-old woman. She visited our hospital according to general fatigue and elevated serum transaminases, and was admitted. At that time she complained that she took Kinshigan. LST and LMT were both negative in this case. © 1984, The Japan Society of Hepatology. All rights reserved.
