Ganancia de peso de toretes cruzados (Bos taurus con Bos indicus) en sistemas intensivos del trópico

Abstract

The objective of this research was to evaluate the weight gain of crossbred bulls (Bos taurus with Bos indicus) in intensive systems in the tropics of Peru. A total of 20 bulls from 11 months of age with an average weight of 155.7 ± 25.9 kg were randomly distributed in two treatments. One group received balanced feed and the other group was based on conventional grazing. Weight and monthly weight gain were determined. The T-student test was applied to two independent samples. Significant differences were found for weights and weight gains (p<0.05), finding weight superiority in the animals that were fed with concentrate compared to the cattle that were grazed. In conclusion, at the tropical level, crossbred cattle were superior in weight gain, so it is necessary to continue improving natural pastures, supplementing with concentrate based on local inputs and making evaluations with cultivated pastures.
