Update on the management of complicated obturator hernia

Abstract

The obturator hernia is a rare hernia that when it occurs mainly affects elderly women, with low weight, and with some associated comorbidity. Traditionally, intestinal obstruction due to this type of hernias has been associated with high morbidity and mortality due, on the one hand, to the fragility of patients and, on the other, to a late diagnosis. Next, we review this rare pathology that requires a high degree of suspicion for early diagnosis and effective treatment.
