Abstract

A structural model is proposed for self-discharge in alkaline batteries. It was demonstrated that existing empirical equations for the self-discharge process are special cases of a general solution. Furthermore, the empirical equations do not contradict each other; rather, they supplement each other, since each is correct over a different time interval of self-discharge.
