In this issue of Blood, Davizon-Castillo et al established a causative link between platelet hyperreactivity in old mice and increased systemic levels of tumor necrosis factor a (TNF-a), which functions via megakaryocyte metabolic reprogramming that leads to platelet mitochondrial dysfunction.1
