Abstract

The concentrations of amino acids from 'Thompson Seedless' grapes grafted on different rootstocks were estimated at different stages of berry development using high performance liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry analysis. Significant differences in the concentrations of individual amino acids and total amino acids were observed among different rootstocks. The pattern in accumulation of a particular amino acid was the same on all the rootstocks, but the stage at which it reached the highest level differed with the rootstock. Proline content was highest after veraison on most of rootstocks and its concentration remained same until harvest, while that of arginine decreased after ripening until harvesting. © 2010 National Research Centre for Grapes.
