Abstract
LITHOSTRATIGRAPHIC SYSTEMATIZATION OF THE SÃO LUÍS CRATON AND THE GURUPI BELT A lithostratigraphic proposal based on recent zircon dating is presented for the São Luís Craton and Gurupi Belt. In the São Luís Craton we recognize: Aurizona Group (metavolcano-sedimentary), 2240 Ma; Tromaí Intrusive Suite (granitoids), 2163 Ma; Areal Granite, 2150 Ma; Tracuateua Intrusive Suite (granitoids), 2090 Ma. In the Gurupi Belt: Igarapé Grande Metatonalite, 2594 Ma; Itapeva Complex (gneiss), 2167 Ma; Gurupi Group (metasedimentary), unknown age; Chega Tudo Formation (metavolcano-sedimentary), 2160 Ma; Cantão Granite, 2159 Ma; Maria Suprema Granite and Japiim Granite, 2100-2085 Ma; Jonasa Granite and Ourém Granite, 2060 Ma; Marajupema Formation (metasedimentary), <1100 Ma; Boca Nova Nepheline Syenite Gneiss, 732 Ma; Ney Peixoto Granite, 549 Ma. Sedimentary covers (Viseu, Igarapé de Areia, and Piriá formations), <600 Ma.
