Abstract
The electrical properties of polythiophene thin films can be varied from insulating to superconducting using the field effect. A spatial modulation of the properties can be achieved by patterning of the gate electrode leading to the preparation of Josephson junctions based on solution cast polymer films. These junctions can be used to build a polymer superconducting quantum interference device or to study the superconducting properties of the material itself. The observations are in accordance with the idea of electron-phonon-mediated superconductivity in this organic polymer. © 2001 American Institute of Physics.
