Intercontinental interrelationships among disjunct populations of Melanotus (Strophariaceae, Agaricales)

Abstract

Based on morphology and sexual compatibility the following names in Melanotus appear to represent a single species: M textilis, (type locality Vancouver, Canada), M. proteus, (type locality South Africa), and M. horizontalis, (type locality France), Widespread presence of pleurocystidia is reported.
