Abstract

Two new dicationic ionic liquids 1,7-bis(3-methylimidazolium-1-yl)heptane bromide (I) and 1,8-bis(3-methylimidazolium-1-yl)octane bromide (II) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR, 1H and 13C NMR, and TG-DSC techniques. The compound (I) is liquid at room temperature, whereas (II) is liquid at 42.7°C.
