Abstract

Multiple transcripts with 5'-end heterogeneity modulate translation: PC upregulated in liver in neonatal period for gluconeogenesis. Alternative promoters, more proximal upregulated when activity higher (RPA and RT-PCR), giving shorter 5'UTR which is more efficiently translated (in vitro) and more associated with polysomes (polysomal profile analysis). Also upregulated in genetically obese mice.
