Abstract
The use of social media TikTok focuses on its users where users are free to express themselves. It is interesting to study what forms the self-concept of its users, specifically among students of Sociology Education at Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University. The purpose of this study is to find out how individuals adjust their self-concepts based on constructions prevailing in society and see how TikTok social media affects individual self-concepts. The research technique used a phenomenological design and data collection techniques by means of observation and in-depth interviews. The informant selection technique uses a purposive technique. The results showed that there was a development of self-concept of students' actions, thoughts (self), and society (society) in the use of TikTok social media through a process of adaptation and imitation. So that the formation of self-identity produces products (TiKTok video content) as the realization of self-reflection on students and community reflection on students of Sociology Education. Indirectly, TikTok social media influences the formation of Sociology Education students' self-concepts.
