Abstract

This review highlights some of the more recent developments in the field of carotenoid biosynthesis and metabolism against the background of our accumulated knowledge of the formation of these pigments. Plant, microbial and animal carotenoids are all considered and attention is focused on specific problems which have been solved, on those still remaining unsolved and on some new problems. © 1979, Walter de Gruyter.
