Abstract

The performance of Inconel718 steel when ultrasonic elliptical vibration (UEV) micro-cutting with different cutting conditions is investigated. The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) and UEV cutting on machining performance compared with conventional turning (CT). And a new heat transfer mode is proposed for different nozzle angles. The cutting force and cutting temperature of Inconel718 micro-cutting are simulated by software, and the cutting temperature under different nozzle angles is compared through experiments. The effects of different nozzle angles on the machining performance are compared under UEV cutting condition. The cutting force, Mises stress, temperature, and the tool stress are explored. It is found that UEV cutting has lower cutting force, stress, and temperature compared with CT, UEV and MQL coupling turning(UEV+MQL)has better performance and the cutting temperature of ultrasonic elliptical vibration (UEV) micro-cutting Inconel718 is significantly reduced when the nozzle angle is 0°.
