Abstract
Keywords: Cognitive; Understanding of Mathematica Concepts; Primary School; The stages of change that occur in our ability to perceive, process information, solve problems, and make sense of information are known as cognitive development. The purpose of this research is to clarify the relationship between mathematics learning and cognitive development in elementary schools. The research was conducted in Class V from October to November 2022 at SDN I Towangsan, Klaten, Central Java. The data source for this study was a mathematics teacher and fifth grade students. Data collection techniques used tests and interviews. The LKS test was used in this study by answering 8 questions. Interviews were used in this study to collect data and information about how well students understand mathematical concepts. The results of this study are the effect of cognitive development on the understanding of elementary school students' mathematical concepts. (X) Based on the results of data analysis, it turns out that mathematics has an effect on cognitive development. (Y) Because the measure of completeness in understanding a mathematical concept is a description of each student's cognitive development, the results of the analysis show that elementary school age students who master it have better cognitive development than other students.
