Abstract
This work proposes a numerical-analytical methodology for one-dimensional transient contaminant transport problems. We present an example in which this new approach is compared to the finite element method and the appropriate analytical solution. The new methodology reduces the numerical oscillation and instability problems which normally occur in the traditional approach. The new methodology is mixed: numeric with respect to space and analytical with respect to time. In this study it was used a theoretical analytical solution in order to verify and validate the new methodology.
