Abstract

Own Measurements of friction pressure drop and heat transfer for evaporating refrigerants in horizontal tubes were correlated by a new empirical method based on the corresponding single phase flow equations, which were extended by taking into account the interphase friction. A comparison of about 4000 friction pressure drop data in a wide range of two phase flow conditions showed the new method to cover all these data with a better accuracy than the methods of Lockhart-Martinelli and Chawla-Bankoff.
