Abstract
Abstract: The residential college has been developed based on the “Garis Panduan Pengurusan dan Pembangunan Kemudahan Kolej Kediaman IPTA (2012)”. However, the shortcomings in it have caused weakness in the provision of facilities at residential colleges. Consequently, residents' discomfort which has adverse effects on the learning process further affects the sustainability of residential colleges. This problem eventually leads to the deterioration of the quality of life of the occupants. This study is aimed at analyzing the views of policy makers, namely Ministry of Education, Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia and the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water (KeTTHA) on the development of sustainable residential college concepts in Malaysian public universities. Methodology is qualitative data collection (interview) and qualitative data analysis analyzed by content analysis. The interviews with KPT and KeTTHA policy makers have received input, support and advice. Among these inputs the residential college as a second learning center forms a holistic student and the application of green elements in facilities at residential colleges. The information obtained is expected to help in developing a comfortable and conducive residential college to further enhance the quality of life of university students.
