Abstract

Sterculia foetida belongings to Sterculiaceae family possessed many bioactivities for treatment of rheumatism, emphysema, laxative, diuretic, asthma, arthritis, antipyretic, antibacterial, antifungal and antibiotic, etc. However, the bark of this species was the understudied part. Herein, eight compounds consisting of cleomiscosin A (1), cleomiscosin C (2), quercetin (3), kaempferol 3-O-β-D-xylopyranoside (4), lupeol (5), lupenone (6), betulinic acid (7), and taraxerol (8) were reported from the Sterculia foetida bark collected at Binh Thuan province, Viet Nam. Their chemical structures were elucidated by the MS and NMR spectroscopic analysis as well as the comparison of their NMR data with the reported data. Compounds 1 and 2 were notified for the first time from Sterculia genus.
