Abstract

We analysed 30 samples of Galician honey with the aim of quantifying and identifying the fungal spores contained in them. Using an optical microscope, we could identify 40 different types, among them Cladosporium, Penicillium/Aspergillus and the Basidiospores, which were identified in more than 80% of the samples. We calculated the relationship between fungal spores and amount of pollen grains in the samples. The maximum values were obtained in samples 21 (more than 208/100 grains of pollen) and 5 (153 spores/100 grains of pollen).
