Abstract

Organizations in the current context, are consolidated from the position of the knowledge economy, from this perspective, know-how constitutes a competitive advantage, hence the importance of managing knowledge. In this sense, the article analyzes knowledge management (KM) in the Industrial sector of medium and large companies, from four pillars proposed by Stankosky (1999-2005): organization, leadership, learning and technology. Amethodology with a descriptive and mixed approach was applied. The sample consisted of 52 medium and large companies in Santiago de Cali-Colombia. Statistical analysis was carried out in order to offer greater objectivity and as support to solve the research questions and test the hypotheses formulated. It was found that companies in the industrial sector develop some knowledge management practices; However, there are weaknesses related to: organizational structures do not include spaces for QA; absence of a transformational, motivating and employeeoriented leadership; low importance of a comprehensive communication strategy. It is concluded about the need to revalue the experience of collaborators and teamwork; the accumulated learning of the organization as well as the support in new technologies with a view to improving knowledge management.
