Abstract
The transalkylation of toluene (T) with trimethylbenzenes (TMB) over SAPO-5 catalysts was investigated. These catalysts appear to be quite active for the studied reaction. It was found that the use of 1,2,4-TMB as alkylation agent gave the highest yield of xylenes. A strong competition between transalkylation, disproportionation and isomerization of aromatic hydrocarbons takes place according to the operating conditions. Copyright © 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
