Abstract
The facility layout problem is considered one of the most important design decisions in the framework of business operations strategies. Its proven impact on operational costs, efficiency, and productivity of manufacturing systems have made it a topic of extensive scientific discussion. However, the static planning approach has been given greater coverage in the literature, when in fact, in practice, the consideration of a dynamic or multi-period approach is more common. In this context, this article presents a literature review regarding the dynamic facilities layout problem (DFLP) from the perspective of operations management. The revised literature allowed us to define the frames of reference, design principles, modeling approaches, resolution strategies, as well as guidelines for future research.
