Abstract

In this letter, the authors report a beam squint compensation method for hybrid precoding in millimetre-wave communication systems. With the objective to maximise the spectral efficiency, they formulate the hybrid precoding problem considering the beam-squinting analogue precoder and reveal its performance loss compared with the ideal identical analogue precoder. They also design a simple but effective compensation matrix for hybrid precoding to reduce the impact of beam squint. Simulation results confirm the performance loss caused by beam squint and reveal the performance gain of the proposed method.
