Abstract

The motion of an articulated-frame-steering tractor is analyzed by an equation of motion when the tractor is turned by an external force, which has an arbitrary direction. The turning path of the tractor is calculated and compared with test results. It is shown from this comparison that this analytical method will be adopted to clarify the turning behavior of vehicles with tires. Furthermore influences of some tractor parameters such as the position of the center of gravity, the position of the frame turning joint, the running speed on the tractor behavior are also shown by a simulation calculation. © 1987.
