Abstract

Parent/baby therapeutic consultations accord a fondamental place to the intersubjective scene for which empathy is a matrix medium. The psychoanalyst's empathy accepts the challenge of opening up simultaneously to adults, to the baby and to the complex interactions present. This framework is conducive to the expression of a primary empathy in the clinician that renders possible the therapeutic observation of its epigenetic avatars in the new-born and their generational resonances in the parents. In this context, the notions elaborated by Lebovici of metaphorising empathy and enaction constitute a precious inheritance for psychoanalysis. The epistemological interest presiding over their conception encourages us to lend special attention to theories of the mind. © Presses Universitaires de France.
