Abstract

The main aim of this research is to investigate how competence and organizational support perceptions affect employee retention, as well as how competence and organizational support perceptions influence organizational commitment. Furthermore, this study aims to explore the impact of organizational commitment on employee retention, and the role of competence and organizational support perceptions in influencing retention through organizational commitment. The study was conducted among the employee population of PT Bank Bengkulu center, employing a non-probability sampling method to select 80 respondents for the survey. The Partial Least Square-SEM technique was applied to analyze the data. The findings indicate that both competence and organizational support perceptions significantly influence employee retention. However, while competence does not significantly affect organizational commitment, organizational support perceptions significantly impact organizational commitment. Organizational commitment, on the other hand, demonstrates a significant influence on employee retention. Additionally, although competence does not directly affect retention through organizational commitment, organizational support perceptions indirectly influence retention through their impact on organizational commitment.
