Abstract

Mabokuy is present as a form of modern art creation that combines elements of craft and performance arts is the result of the artist's thoughts, expertise, skills, taste, and imagination with the reality that occurs today. Born because of concern, especially the erosion of cultural awareness and the loss of people's ignorance of nature. The purpose of this study is to identify, describe as a whole and comprehensively the form of Mabukuy art, reveal the value of local wisdom and its meaning in maintaining ancestral traditions and maintaining environmental sustainability. Researchers use qualitative methods with an ethnographic approach. The results showed that the philosophical meaning of bamboo in this art as a symbol of courage, natural beauty, strength, toughness, resilience, flexibility, loyalty, and respect. This is reflected in various types of Sundanese arts and traditions that use bamboo as an important part of the cultural elements and lives of its people. The immeasurable value of this art is its expressive power, promoting sustainable culture, and building awareness, in addition to being a means of entertainment and public education.
