Abstract

Medical X-ray imaging and Computed Tomography (CT) rely heavily on the performance of the imaging detectors used in these modalities. This article gives an overview over the key technologies involved in the construction of such imaging detectors. Apart from the conversion of the X-rays also photodiodes and the associated electronics constitute important technology fields. For both X-ray and CT the development of the technologies over the last decade is reviewed, the state of the art is described and some current and envisaged developments are emphasized.
