Abstract
Case reports and cohort studies have linked residual excess cement to peri-implant disease. This chapter explores why cementation techniques and materials routinely used for the natural dentition pose such problems when transferred to the implant restoration. By understanding the REFIIDs related to the implant site, the materials used and techniques, clinical guidance is provided in an evidence based manner. Alternatives to the cement-retained restoration are also proposed.
