Abstract

Unlike that in inland regions, inundation in coastal urban areas can be caused by multiple factors because storm surge can cause rainfall with increased sea level. Therefore, inundation analysis of a coastal urban area in Jeju Sanji stream was conducted by using XP-SWMM, an outflow hydrologic model of the city watershed. This study considers increases in sea level and river flood level caused by outflow of a domestic drainage system, and the results were used to assess flood damage relative to people and buildings. This study confirmed that when the rainfall amount was constant, flood damage to buildings and injuries to humans were greater owing to sea level rise. In addition, we confirmed that flood analysis in coastal urban areas needs to consider multiple factors.
