Abstract

Radiopharmaceuticals are formulations containing radioisotopes tagged chemical compounds. Therapy using radiopharmaceuticals is rapidly developing as an additional treatment modality in oncology. A great variety of specific tumour-seeking radiopharmaceuticals is applied for treatment, using multiple routes and mechanisms to target radioisotope at tumours. The non-invasiveness of the procedure and the relative lack of toxicity and late effects in comparison with chemotherapy and external beam radiotherapy, make radiopharmaceutical therapy an effective alternative approach to cancer treatment. This article is an out line of various radiopharmaceuticals used for cancer therapy.
