Abstract
Post-stroke depression estimated to be around 30-35% in stroke victims' results in higher mortality, worse functional outcomes and poor quality of life. The "lesion location" and the genesis of depression is a disputed concept. The development and evolution of post-stroke depression may be due to the chronic accumulation of small macrovascular and microvascular lesions. Treatment of depression by pharmacological and non-pharmacological means improves the quality of life and facilitates neuro-rehabilitation.
