Abstract

In contrast to broad applications of small aromatic rings and π-conjugated wire-like units, the use of large polyaromatic rings in coordination nanostructures has been less developed to date. This review article describes the recent progress of coordinationdriven cages and capsules with multiple polyaromatic panels, such as anthracene, pyrene, and perylene derivatives. In the welldefined cavities, intriguing chemical phenomena can be observed through enhanced interactions with the polyaromatic frameworks.
