Abstract

A research is done extensively on the welding parameters using linear friction which have effect on distribution of the texture; μ-structured shape of & the mechanical characteristics of Ti-1.5Zr-0.3Si-6.5Al-3.5Mo.The conclusions show that a velocity of critical shear which must be reached. As it reaches to that velocity of critical shear, it obtains a good joint. Thermo-mechanically affected zone (TMAZ) width decreases with shear rate or frictional pressure, while the Welding Center Zone (WCZ) width remains unchanged. In WCZ, a recrystallized μ-structured shape of β grains with the shape of needle which forms α laths, & the size of grain becomes shorter with the pressure of friction. Electronic diffraction analysis got performed for welding parameters texture analysis. With the pressure on friction increase, the strength of {1 1 2} <1 1 1> beta texture intensity increases. In case of textured alpha, the power of texture grows more & the rest decreases. By checking the mechanical properties, the relationship between β grain sizes, joint elongation width & maximum hardness were determined.
