Traffic violation are mostly carried out by motorcyclist

Abstract

The city of Surabaya is one of the cities with the growth of motorized vehicle users which always increases every year. The number of motorcyclist increased to 89296 motorcyclists in 2015. There were 505 incidents of violations which resulted in the accident of motorcyclist in 2016. There are many factors that influence the occurrence of traffic violations, individual factors by motorcyclist are one of the factors causing traffic violations. Based on these conditions, the alternative policy research in handling traffic violations by motorcyclists in the city of Surabaya is expected to be one solution to reduce traffic violations in the city of Surabaya. The main purpose was to find out alternative policies in handling traffic violations by motorcyclist. The research used descriptive frequency statistical analysis, and factor analysis. The results of the identification of characteristics indicate that on the road that has a median there were three factors that influence motorists to commit violations. Three factors are knowledge of the rider, the intensity of the action in the form of stop motorists who commit traffic violations and the intensity of the action in the form of taking legal action. While on the roads that do not have a median there were only 2 factors. Two factors were knowledge motorists and intensity of the action in the form of legal action.
