Abstract

This work explains some of the theoretical and methodological advances that have occurred in recent decades in the sociology of music, a field that has greatly energized the sociology of culture and arts. The text analyzes the main schools that emerged in the second half of the 20th century, to contrast them with the “musical sociology” that appears after the cultural turn of sociology, with authors such as Antoine Hennion, Georgina Born or Tia DeNora. In the conclusions, the work problematizes some of these recent findings, in search of a synthesis between the diverse perspectives.
