Abstract

A review is carried, covering the design, development, and analytical applications of genetically engineered cell-based biosensing systems employing reporter genes. First, an overview is given of the chemical reactions and structural properties of the reporter genes currently used in cell-based biosensing arrays. The advantages and disadvantages of these genes as reporter are also discussed.
